The Benefit of Having a Hydroponics Greenhouse Over Indoor Hydroponics Gardening
For years, I have heard about hydroponics gardening, but I always had the question on how the vegetables can be grown in the indoors without the requirement of soil and water? How can the nutrients be enough for the growth of the plants? Hydroponics seems a combination of Chemical solutions with the plants.
These factors had made more surprised & created a curiosity to learn more about this wonder technique of growing fruits or vegetables with the soil. The major advantage of hydroponics method is yielding increased crop gain, than that of the conventional farming.
For example,
Yield of Tomatoes grown in ground is only five to ten tonnes. In greenhouse, the harvest is 60 to 300 tons! Yield of Cucumber, the figures are 7000 pounds whereas in greenhouse it is 28,000 pounds Yield of lettuce is 9000 pounds in ground & 21,000 pounds in a hydroponic greenhouse.
If you have a hydroponic garden, then you can plan or read about the purchase or construction of a hydroponics greenhouse. Many people start with a kind of hydroponics with a small setup at home or in their spare basement room. But it is much easier to manage all the prerequisites for a thriving garden, if you are having a ready made hydroponic greenhouse. It is much easier to manage the requirements for lighting, ventilation and temperature in that.
Hydroponic garden courtyard Vs Hydroponic greenhouse
The growth of plants in your hydroponic gardens courtyard may not seem ideal like that in the use of Hydroponic greenhouse. A hydroponics greenhouse offers better lighting and irrigation on the configuration of the system. Not too many people will support the green house concept if they are used to the hydroponic gardens system.
You need plenty of space for the installation of irrigation systems and lighting systems that are necessary for the hydroponic gardens. Where is space available in this fast paced world cramped with houses & skyscrapers? But, if you have a hydroponic greenhouse, then you can position these systems much easier & in a smaller space too. Lighting & other arrangements come with the greenhouse, so one need not worry on those factors.
Most plants thriving under greenhouse hydroponics conditions are carefully examined. Gravel is usually seen as a means to support the root user, and a balanced mix of all nutrients regularly flow cultures in liquid form. This method is called a “subculture of irrigation.”
In a large perfect hydroponic greenhouse, once the plants were planted almost the entire work is supported by automation. Sensors in the gravel decide when the plants need more solution, based on that they control the pumps accordingly.
The biggest advantage of using greenhouse hydroponics for your garden is about light. To be successful, the plants grown in hydroponics need lots of light. But remember that too much light allows with algae to thrive, and that do not want.
In a hydroponics greenhouse, sunlight is filtered and dispersed as a matter of time. You can also specify or control the number and angle of the light through the use of colors and shutters. Another advantage is that you require less energy because you do not continue to grow light all the time.
You will also find that the procedures for the supply of nutrients to the plants are easier to install and maintain if one has a hydroponics greenhouse. Of course, this is very important for the health of the plants in hydro culture.
If the plants do not grow in the soil, the pH is rather different. You will see the large fluctuations in the acidity and alkalinity, as it is water based. A greenhouse hydroponics setup is simple; the implementation of an automatic pH control keeps checking the figures.
And you need not worry about how your plants will stay warm in winter. A good greenhouse has an acceptable temperature, even in the cold days without heat. This is especially advantageous if you live in a region with lower temperature, but lot of sunshine. Fans and also vents may also be installed to help regulate the temperature in your greenhouse. Remember, control of temperature for the plants in hydroponics gardening is important.
You can build your own greenhouse hydroponics, or buy ready. Yes! You can get it in different sizes and styles. There are lots of models that also take into account the expansion of the garden in the future. Maybe it’s time that you have a hydroponics greenhouse & have those favorite fruits or vegetable garden.

Hydroponic Gardening: What makes it Different from In-Ground Gardening?
What makes hydroponic gardening different from traditional in-ground gardening is a soilless growing medium. No dirt! All plants require support, to be held up. This basic requirement is dealt with by soilless growing mediums which are inert, mostly non-organic materials. Non-organic refers to the medium not being derived from living organisms, unlike soil, which is. There are a perplexing jumble of growing mediums available for hydroponic gardening. Generally speaking, these mediums are porous, light and coarse, allowing oxygen and nutrients to be easy accessible to the plants roots.
Some of the most common used in hydroponic gardening are:
Coconut Coir ~ This is produced from the husk that surrounds the coconut shell. Made up of millions of tiny micro-sponges, it can absorb and hold up to eight times its weight in water, perfect for hydroponic gardening. It lasting three times as long as peat moss so is fairly sturdy. It is also called palm peat, coco, or just coir. Some of the advantagesof this medium for hydroponic gardening are better water retention and aeration. The disadvantages of coconut coir are its breakdown after several uses and some drainage issues. It is often mixed with other media to improve drainage for hydroponic gardening.
L.E.C.A / Lightweight Expanded Clay Aggregate ~ This is clay which has been heated under high temperatures until it puffs up. It makes a very coarse medium as the clay balls are about 1/4″ across. Superb drainage, holds moisture, stays put and is reusable after sterilization to continue with your hydroponic gardening. These are just some of the advantages of this medium. On the downside, it doesn’t hold moisture as well as mediums like coconut coir and can be more costly.
Perlite ~ Glass flakes (Silica) are heated until it expands producing what we know as perlite. These tiny nodules hold water well and provide drainage. A common medium for hydroponic gardening due to its low density and somewhat lower cost. Its advantage is its re-usability. That being said, it cannot be used alone for ebb & flow hydroponic gardening because it will float away or move during flooding cycles.
Rockwool ~ These cubes are made of fibers spun from melted Basaltic rock. The density of this growing medium for hydroponic gardening can be adjusted by changes in the amount of pressure during production. Large slabs are cut into smaller slabs and propagation blocks for easy handling in hydroponic gardening. Advantages of this medium are the ease of handling, convenience, better control over nutrition, being able to plant seeds in it and allow the plants to be very stable.
So you see, soil is not necessary for growing plants and you have plenty of other choices for your hydroponic gardening. There are many other ways to germinate a seed and support a plant. What is vital is water, food, light, warm and oxygen. As long as you provide these things, plus the support, your plants will grow and flourish. Hydroponic Kit: Get Everything you Need at Once for Successfully Growing Plants
Once upon a time, you had to collect all your lights, fans, foggers, growing trays, etc., etc., piece by piece and build your own hydroponic kit. Some people still enjoy doing this. However, if this isn’t something that gets you excited or you want to start right away, nowadays you can consider a professionally designed hydroponic kit containing everything you need to get started immediately.
When comparing the costs, the already put-together hydroponic kit is far cheaper than the collection of bits and pieces bought separately, not even counting your time. You can also be sure that everything will be compatible and will happily work together. When you purchase separate pieces for a hydroponic kit, they may not all want to talk to each other.
For instance, the hydroponic kit called the Mini Caddy from Sunlight Sheds includes all the following and more:
Wireless Temp Humidity Gauges
Total Dissolved Solids Meter
Moon Dust™ All-In-One Plant Nutrient & Additive
pH UP & pH Down & pH Testing Kit
105F Thermal Safety Switch
Smoke Heat Detector
Heavy Duty Outlet Timer
Super High Output Ozone Generator (Safe Odor Killer)
Spray-N-Grow Foliar Spray
Bushmasters Vertical Plant Growth Inhibitor
Another hydroponic kit from a different company will include the same, sometimes less, sometimes more, so you have a good choice of what you’re prepared to pay for. The hydroponic kit also comes in many sizes. It depends on the size of your unused space as to which one would suit you best.
A hydroponic kit can come in a metal cabinet and some come in a mylar cabinet. They all seem to be discretely designed to blend in with the surroundings. A hydroponic kit pretty much can live in any unused place in your home or your garage. The cabinet just sits there, working away, growing veggies, fruits and herbs for you to enjoy.
Almost anything can be grown in a hydroponic kit, from vegetables to fruits to herbs. Being a water-based plant, watermelons love the environment. Tomatoes, of course, also love to grow in a hydroponic kit alongside lettuces and peppers. A hydroponic kit may also come with cloning possibilities which is a great bonus. I recently took several cuttings from my rosemary bush and potted up three lovely new plants. It took about a month for them to form good roots in the hydroponic kit environment.
I hope, one day, there will be a hydroponic kit in every home where each of us will be able to grow and enjoy the very freshest, most nourishing foods, essential to our health. We won’t have to eat two year old fruits and veggies that have been gassed and stored unripe, and then trucked to us for hundreds of miles.

Healthy, nutritious and tasty food keeps us going each day. But when we sit with that bowl of greens and other colourful salads thinking we are eating healthy food, are we really sure it’s healthy? Alright, it looks fresh, is green and we’d like to believe that we are giving our body much needed nutrition. But are we aware that we are ingesting some very harmful chemicals like urea, excessive sulphur, chlorides and other chemicals along as well. How? Well, these are widely used chemical fertilizers and pesticides. You may believe that it may not have those chemicals because it’s been labelled organic? Alright, the growers claim they didn’t spray the crops with these chemicals. But do they have control over underwater tables and air that has the runoff and chemical aerosol from a much polluted environment?
What then will help us get clean, nutritious food on our table which does not have any poisonous traces on it? The science of Hydroponics offers an innovative solution. Hydroponics, as the Merriam Webster dictionary defines, is the growing of plants in nutrient solutions with or without an inert medium (as soil) to provide mechanical support. Simply put, Hydroponics is the science of growing plants in mineral and nutrient enriched water without soil. Sounds strange? Soil isn’t what a growing plant feeds on. Instead, it has some select nutrients that plants require to synthesize their food. The mechanical support of soil can well be substituted by coir, wood fibre, gravel, sand and various other media. Growing plants in a controlled environment can ensure that none of the atmospheric pollutants make way to http://www.advancednutrients.com Hydroponics can be used for large scale agriculture and right in your homes as well if you plan to have a little garden for yourself. This technique has several other advantages like less labour and garden maintenance, pests and diseases are easily avoided as the climate can be controlled, plants are free from weeds and will thus grow healthy ensuring that we get good, wholesome and non-toxic food on our table.
Hydroponics is a sure way to grow our crops and other plants in a pollution free and controlled environment. And that isn’t the only benefit. The yield from this technique is much higher than that from conventional farming and may very well have the solution to the food shortage problem on earth. For eg: Conventional agricultural output of potatoes per acre is 13,400-22,400 lb whereas the Hydroponic equivalent per hectare is an astounding 140,000 lb.
Not only will this help us overcome food shortage problems, but also address the problem of forest cover being converted into agricultural land. It may help us save the flora and fauna of the earth which is nearing extinction. The water usage for Hydroponics is as little as 1/20th of the water required for conventional agriculture, thus reducing the strain on earth water resources as well.
Choosing Hydroponics over conventional agriculture and gardening will be a boon for the biosphere and an answer to the problem of global warming and climate change. We can then ensure that our future generations will inherit an earth where their eyes can still feast on the verdant green of forests and when they enjoy a meal, they can be sure that no nasty chemical is making way into their bodies.
